We are working on a plan that shows people how our city might look 30 years from now based on the Planning for Growth submissions and feedback. This is called a ‘spatial plan’. We will be consulting on a draft Spatial Plan in early 2020.
66 percent of people agreed that scenario two, with its focus on development in and around suburban centres, supported by inner-city growth, does the best job of balancing the trade-offs.
We’re also looking at how Let’s Get Wellington Moving’s plans for moving more people with less vehicles, and our commitment to being a zero carbon capital, guide the way we grow.
- February 2020 – we will ask for your feedback on a Draft spatial plan for Wellington.
- June/July 2020 – we refine the spatial plan based on your feedback, and present it to Councillors for their approval.
- Late 2020 – A non-statutory Draft District Plan is released for consultation.
- Late 2021 – a Proposed District Plan is publicly notified (statutory consultation)
We hope you will stay involved, and help us shape this city we love.
